Categories of membership for individuals:

Student

Student membership is open to those applicants who are in full-time education in any discipline within the construction industry.

Affiliated

Affiliated membership is open to those applicants who wish to keep in touch with APS by receiving regular information.

Associate

Associate membership is open to those applicants who have graduated from their Student membership or who practice in the industry and meet the entrance criteria as set out by APS.

Registered

Registered membership is open to those applicants who practice in the industry and meet the entrance criteria as set out by APS.

Registered members will be expected to sit the online examination for the appropriate Register within 4 weeks of APS validating their entry requirements.  The CDM 2007 Approved Code of Practice (ACoP) cites APS Registers as an example of meeting the competence criteria in Appendix 4 of that ACoP.

Fellow

Fellow membership is open to Registered members only, who have at least 5 years continuous membership of APS including that of Full member (but excluding Student, Affiliated and Associate membership).

Assistance for Unemployed Members

The Association for Project Safety sympathises with the many people working in the construction industry who have been made redundant particularly those who are APS Members.  APS realises that in order to find new employment it is important for our Members to not only retain their membership of APS but also be able to show that they have continued to undertake a programme of Continuing Professional Development if they are to present themselves in the best possible light to potential employers.

To this end, from 1st June 2010, APS are offering the following concessions to unemployed Members:

  • 50% discount on their annual subscription (only applicable at annual renewal);
  • 50% discount on APS National CPD events and Annual Convention; and
  • Free access to Regional CPD events in their region.

Categories of membership for companies:

Corporate

Corporate membership is open companies which have at least one employee who is a Registered member of APS.

Registered Practice Scheme

Registered Practice membership is open to companies which meet the criteria as set out by APS and have at least one employee who is already a Registered member of APS.

Successful registered practices will have demonstrated their competence against the core criteria in Appendix 4 of the CDM 2007 Approved Code of Practice.

The Association for Project Safety (APS) is a not-for-profit membership body for all working in, or with an interest in, Construction Health and Safety Risk Management. By joining APS, members enjoy the opportunities of personal development offered by one of the most progressive membership associations in the construction industry.

Please contact Mandy Moore with your questions about individual memberships (mandy@aps.org.uk) and Carole Mackay with your questions about company memberships (carole@aps.org.uk).  Telephone 08456 121290.
